The image draws upon the often told account of Guru Nanak at Panja Sahib, at Hassan Abdal, near Rawalpindi (modern day Pakistan), where he stopped in its tracks, just using his open panja (palm) an enormous boulder, supposedly hurled at him by a jealous Muslim divine, Pir Wali Kandhari.

The Guru\'s figure along with the other subjects and the rocky backdrop are painted using relatively subdued colors which brings a certain charm and disarming naivete to the artwork.

The replica drawing here has been skillfully hand painted with an antique finish. The original art was done in the Punjab in the last quarter of the 19th century and currently resides in the Government Museum and Art Galley, Chandigarh, India.
