This is a sterling silver wager cup measuring 5\" tall (13cm) and weighing 154 grams. This is an excellent copy of theantique wager cups c 1650 which were originally German and copied in England and were used as a drinking game. The challenge was to drink the complete contents of the cup that was formed by the woman\'s skirt without spilling the contents of the the cup she held over her head which was on hinges so it moved as she was moved. The name wager cup came about as you wagered whether you could empty the cup or not. This one is English and hallmarked for London 1991 and is in excellent condition.
