Primitive, but also graceful and elegant, this large, hand-carved antique decoy was found in central Maine.Solid wooden body three pieces- body, neck, and head. There is a thin wooden spacer between the neck and the head, presumably to adjust the tilt of the head.Pieced together with old nails, heads of which are visible. The head is slightly loose, and I\'ve made no attempt to tighten it.Glass eyes.Body checked and cracked with age.Hard to make our in the photos, the folded wing are carved in relief from the back.Decoy measures 12\" tall and 18\" long.Seems this bird has lived outside for some time- if it was ever painted, no paint remains, and it has developed a beautiful aged and worn patina.Has a great look, and alluring attitude, and would make a wonderful addition to any decor or collection.
