Description Abeautiful large 6 inch sizeEnglishantiqueearly19th Century Georgiansolid sterling silversugar or peppercaster probably by the silversmith Edward Mayfield (1796-1811), in lovely condition and with full English silver hallmarks for London 1805. Excellent quality genuine213 year oldsterling silver example,handsome size, complete withits original tight-fitting pierced and prick-work decorated pull-off silver lid and resting on an attractive square pedestal base. Nice andheavy, weighs approx. 112 gramsand there are no added personal engraved inscriptions.

MeasurementsMeasures approx.6 inches (150mm) inheight,and is2 inches (52mm) x 2 inches (52mm) across the base.

Date English antique early 19th Century George IIIsolid sterling silver,with a full set of English silver hallmarks for London 1805, (date letter \"K\"). Stamped with an early lion passant/gardantsterling silver mark and alsothe crowned leopards head stamp of the London assay office. With matching silvermarks on the caster and the lid, so 100% guaranteed all original.

Maker silversmiths initials \"- M\", (probably Edward Mayfield - 1796-1811).

ConditionLovely condition,and ready to be used. Nosplits or cracks, no obviousrepairsand no nasty knocks or dents, very minortiny shallow pin-head surface bruises, really nothing and a very nice example.The pierced silver pull-off lid has no damage to the pierced work and is definitely the original. Beautifulearly Georgian shape with a fine square pedestal base and a handsome large size,possibly for sugar or pepper.Goodheavy silver weight and as a bonus there are no added personal engraved inscriptions.
