Up for sale is a great copy of History of the Crusades by Michaud Illustrated with one Hundred Grand Compositions by Gustave Dore engraved by Bellenger, Doms, Gusman, Jonnard, Pannemaker, Pisan, Quesnel. This is a massive two volume setapproximately15 x 11 inches on very thick paper. published by George Barrie Philadelphia.
This is a really nice piece with some condition issues. Both Volumes in general are in nice shape in the interior. the engravings generally are very nice and clean with only minimal foxing on a couple of them and a couple minor stains. Other than that the engravings are nice. Similarly the pages are in nice shape. Both volumes are aged and not bound. From my understand the set was sold and purchased page by page and as the letter indicates in one of the photos there are some scrupulous people who will try to sell add-ons to the set. The set is beautiful, I love the story of the Crusades from a historical prosective and I know that whoever buys this set will love it and bring it up to the beautiful books they should be, Any questions, you want to see something in the massive volumes let me know.I am setting the mailing high because I do not know what it would cost to send via mail, so if shipping cost is less than when I charged you I will refund if greater than $2.00.Thank You
