Withsoft, butrich, deepcolor andpainstaking detail, this vintage sterling and enamel butterfly is simply beautiful. The enameling, withthe delicate lines underneath, delineating the intricate patterns in the wings, is very effective and along with the painted markings, conveys velvety texture, depth and contrast, capturing the ethereal, translucent quality of real butterfly wings.

The basic color scheme of charcoal black, white and shades of blue really \"Pops,\" making this butterfly extremely eye catching. Very painterly, and the brooch is simply exquisite!

The brooch measuresjust under 1-1/2\" wide by justunder 7/8\" tall.

Itis signedon the back \"Sterling 925S Norway\" with an encircled triangle right after \"925S\" which is the mark of Hroar Prydz of Oslo.(Penultimatephoto.)
