Estate find. Designed by the Gorham Silver Company . This rare artillery shell cocktail shaker was created to resemble an 18lb. artillery shell and made about 1918. In one military family since new. Measures 22” high with a 4” diameter base. It would have been 22 1/2” high but the small button cap is missing. This item is in as foundconditionand has the untouched antique patina. It can be polished to an extremely fine shine if desired. Made of brass, copper, and silver-plated brass. Inside the lower half of the shell it still retains the original holder for the glasses, although no glasses were not present. The top half only has a few very very small dings and are highlighted by the darkened specks. The nose cone/strainer has a small ding and is highly detailed to match the real artillery shell’s settings. The base of the top half and bottom half are stamped \"FAC-SIMILE EIGHTEEN POUNDER SHRAPNEL SHELL\" and \"PATENT APPLIED FOR IN AMERICAN AND FOREIGN COUNTRIES\".
