You are viewing a wonderfully large sterling silver brooch by the silversmith Hector Aguilar. It is the largest I have seen. It is one of two I am offering for sale this week, both by Aguilar. From their respective hallmarks, I would say that both pieces were made in the late 1940s. This one is a chunky piece in the form of a flower. It is just under 4 inches in length and weighs approximately 1.22 troy ounces or 38.2 grams including the pin which may be of another material other than sterling silver. It\'s a lovely brooch in good condition with minor scratching and wear only. The piece appears to have been lacquered at some point, but this is easily removed using lacquer remover or simply boiling the brooch in water.
