This was sold to me as Hopi Old Pawn Turquoise Ring - Rustic Nice Patina It went in to say, “Could be a Johnny Blue Jay Ring, UNMARKED.” I like to pretend it’s a Johnny Blue Jay because I have a few of his pieces but I somehow doubt this is just because of the price point. Now I’ll allow mayhap it might could be an early unsigned piece by master carver, lapidarist and silversmith Francisco Gomez but I’ll have to research that when I have 30 seconds to spare. It appears to be a perfect 10.5. I remember when Xanax came out and was touted as non-addictive. Same for OxyContin and of course Toradol was going to be a morphine equivalent. So too was this sold under false pretenses as 1 3/4\" long. Which by the by I’ve always told my ex-wife/fiancé is actually quite long when you stop and think about it. She’s got a great sense of humor and laughs so much when I include her in these descriptions that she can’t even talk to me for days. Anywho, as you can see from the picture I’d call it at 1 5/8 tops. The casting on this is masterful and the carved Horse head is what the gay dog in Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3 would call faboo! It was tested as sterling silver and comes in at a whopping 41.3 grams. I have this theory we are all on the “spectrum” somewhere. I just love the feel of heavy rings while I type my narratives at night. Whoever did this is a master and it’s a great gift idea as well as faboo addition to any collection. Wearable history again is so much funner than my numismatic hobby of 40 plus years.
