Hand Carved Wood Box, Antique Folk Art, Primitive 1800’s Look Solid Wood Log Box:

This box is hand carved from a solid piece of wood, it looks like it started as a log. It’s dark brown with a red color to it and some black in the grain. The nails holding the hinges are early and look to be spikes. As you can see it looks primitive or as if the person who nailed them in was in a hurry! It’s heavy wood. there’s no breaks or cracks it’s in great shape. I can’t say for sure as I found this at an estate sale in a barn but it looks early and is definitely hand made. The last picture shows the spikes and hinge close up you can see the dirt left under the hinge on this old barn find.
