The image side with a shot of the artist at work. RichardTeschner had moved from Prague to Vienna in 1909, where he became an important member ofthe Wiener Werkstätte and close friend to Gustav Klimt, Koloman Moser et al. Through his wedding to Emma Bacher in 1911, Teschner became acquaintedwith the Wajang figures from Java on his honeymoon in Holland and, afterreturning to Vienna, created these figures and wrote his own pieces for hismarionettes, which he wrote in 1912-32 in a \" Golden Shrine \"and1932-48 in the so-called\" figure mirror \". He became famous across Europe for his puppet shows and wrote them himself, created the sets, lighting and sound as well as the wonderful puppets. He took them out of Austria only once when he took them to England at the personal request of Queen Alexandra. As a graphic artist,Teschner developed the hand-toned etching, created Ex Libris and found access tothe Prague poetry circle around Gustav Meyrink, Oskar Wiener and Paul Leppin asa book illustrator.
