A Very finely carved wooden face mask from the DAN peoples, Cote De Ivorie, West Africa. Carved wood with a carving style that shows a Toma influence, so the mask likely originates from the north of the country. Finely carved facial features and incised linear designs. The mask interior and edges all show consistent wear and handling, suggesting generations of ceremonial use.
**Of special note are the square shaped regalia holes, all hand drilled, this is a feature I typically only see on old masks.
