Beautiful, large New England oil on art board circa 1880-1900 of a woodedscene featuring trees, split rail fence and a dirt path in a country landscape.This work is highly skilled, nicely detailed with refined brushwork consistentwith a talented, trained painter. It is not signed and has not been researched. Piece is in untouched, original condition.

Painting is in excellent condition exceptfor one very small spec of paint loss (smaller than a pin head) under the treesand a minor scrape in the lower right (see detail in photo). Both could easilybe stabilized with little effort. The back side of the work has aninscription in white chalk, “Covey” or “Dovey” “W Haven”.

Painting alone measures 12\" x 16\"and with the frame measures 18½\" x 22½\". Artwork is framed in anice plein air 3 ¾\" wide wooden gold frame. Frame is in greatcondition, but not original to the work.
