Up for sale is a copy of an ORIGINAL and HISTORIC Newspaper \"THE EVENING STAR\" - Washington, D.C. dated Thursday, December 2, 1869. Published Daily, Sunday excepted, At The Star Building, by the Evening Star Newspaper Company.
Includes a list of member of Congress, special notices, for rent, for sale, financial information, amusements, advertisements, sale sales, lost and found, railroads, telegrams, and much, much more!
Read first hand what was happening in the US about 4 years after the official end of the Civil War (May 9, 1865).
It is a large 2 page (4 pages front and back) newspaper measuring approximately 16\" x 21\". The two pages are no longer connected.
The paper is in Fair- condition. There is some wear to the paper - there are some creases and tears along the edges. The close to 150 year old paper also suffers from some foxing, browning, spotting and type fading. There are a few holes in the middle of the articles, as well. Some pencil writing at the top of the front page.
This is an incredible chance to read about our countries history on the original day it was reported! A great opportunity for any collector or history buff to own a true piece of American history!
