It is with pleasure that I\'m offering a lovely pin /pendant by Raymond Sequaptewa, whose work ranks among the greatest contemporary artists and resides in the best museums and galleries. His work is always snapped up as soon as it\'s finished and there is a long waiting list to buy from him. This is a stunning piece in traditional Hopi overlay technique with texturing on the lower level. The pin / pendant represents Katsinmana kachina who is a Hopi maiden who comes at the home dance, the last dance of the year with the Hernis katsina. She wears her hairstyle in the way of the unmarried Hopi women. The way she plays her instrument during the dance is reminiscent of grinding corn and may suggest a special connection to the corn. I wonder if that is one reason Raymen Sequaptewa made this, since he was using a corn hallmark himself, suggesting he also has a special relationship to the corn. The piece is expertly executed and has a slightly convex shape with beautifully rounded edges, which are very appealing. I have a beautiful hand made Hopi chain, which is just great with it, but it is a little tight in the bale. I tease it through slowly and find it works to just leave the hook near the bottom rather than at the top. The chain will be included and can be used with other things. It\'s a great chain, 24\" long, and it fits over the head so one needn\'t remove it from the piece if one wants to wear it primarily as a pendant. The chain alone weighs 8.6grams.

The pin / pendant measures 1-7/8\" high and 1\" wide. The piece alone, without the chain weighs 8.1grams. The locking pin mechanism works fine. It is hallmarked by Raymond Sequaptewa with the Hopi Guild mark, and the hallmark he began to use in 1974. It is not signed for silver content which is usual, but but acid tests for sterling silver .925. The condition is excellent vintage, wearable and collectible. This pin / pendant is a very fine piece which has a warm and generous quality which fills the heart with joy. It is fabulous

International buyers pay actual shipping cost and are responsible for any customs fees their own countries may apply. I generally use Express International, which is tracked and insured, but can always consider Priority Mail International. if that is your preference. It\'s less expensive but not insured. To the UK and Canada, even First Class International can be used because it can be tracked to those countries. We can discuss it prior to purchase.
