Very NiceOriginal Antique Antebellum Hand Tinted/Colored CURRIER & IVES PRINT, “The EveningPrayer”, c.1850

DESCRIPTION:Scans showit all.....very large, IN FACT HUGE....THE LARGEST CURRIER & IVES PRINTS I HAVE EVER SEEN. Hand colored/tinted print, no newer than 1850 based on thehair, clothes, and the 162 Nassau St, New York address. Possibly earlier. In the early days during the CALIFORNIA GOLD RUSH, before the Civil War!!

Titled\"THE EVENING PRAYER (Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; if I die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take)\". This is the classic child\'s prayer that was still popular with children right up to recent times.

Shows a very young girl, with ringlet hair, and a necklace, shown with cupped hands ininnocent prayer.

No frame, but certainly could be matted or framed in your chosen frame. Overall print size is approximately 13 1/2\" x 17 3/4\".

Originalhand colored/tinted etc.Lightly tinted as is typical with the earliest prints. Particularly noticeable in her eyes and pastel dress.Currierprints were generally printed on stone, then HAND COLORED by womenemployees.A VERY NEW PROCESS AT THE eye appeal to decorate any 19th century period wall or collection, or a display of earlyprints or antique items, or even a child\'s room or playroom. Not only a nice thought, but SUCH AN INNOCENT FACE !!!The kind of face that you would never get tired of seeing on a daily basis.
