ITEM DESCRIPTION

Here we have this Outstanding LARGE Fine Quality Vintage 1930s to 40s Mexican All Custom Handmade and Hand Hammered Heavy 950 Sterling Silver Jewelry, Candy or Food Tray or Dish with thick Handmade and Hand Tooled solid 950 Sterling Silver Beautifully Ornate edging.... It measures: 14\" at the longest point x 7 5/8\" at the widest point and stands 2 7/8\" at the highest point... It has fine custom silver work and craftsmanship, you can see who ever made this was a very skilled silver worker, it is all hand hammered silver base with the solid Silver hand tooled ornate edging...... It weighs in at 25 Ounces, the same as 786 Grams, the exact weight on the postal scale was 1 pound 9.2 ounces, it was tested by a professional silversmith from a well known jewelry gallery, and was tested as 950 sterling silver..... It is not signed as a lot of pieces back then were not signed... It is stamped \" Silver Mexico \".... It is also a fact that it is known that many pieces of silver jewelry and works of art made in Mexico back then where made of a higher content of silver than 925 sterling, even if it was stamped sterling or stamped 925, many many pieces that were stamped 925 or sterling were 950, 970 and 980+ until the Mexican government came up with the Eagle Assay office mark which was a way to keep watch on the silver content in the silver pieces being made for trade..... This Jewelry Tray / Dish is in Used AAA Fine Superb condition, as shown in the photos, there is No damage to any part of this piece, needs maybe a very little minor polishing of the silver if desired, it has been inside a show case for years away from the elements that turn silver dark, exact age unknown.Throughout US the trading posts serve also as pawn shops with the trader usually involved in an earthy form of banking business - part of the process known as pawning...... Latin Americans, Hopi, Zuni, Mexicans and Navajo\'s and many other Traders converted their turquoise and silverjewelry into cash....... When in need of money or commodities their assets are used as securities for loans......... At times the trading post vault is the safest place in which to keep valuables........ In this case the silversmith pawns their item for a minimum loan of cashand is happy to pay the interest rate in return for the security of his goods...... If articles are not redeemed after the contractual length of time, it becomes \" Old Dead Pawn \" and may be sold by the pawn shop trader for whatever the market will allow.PAYMENTS are due within 4 Days of end of sale.
