London: Daniel & Charles Houle - Stunning - 23 troy oz

This is a really outstanding VICTORIAN large and heavy solid sterling silver teapot that was made in London, England in 1862 by the famous Victorian silversmiths, Daniel John Houle & Charles Houle at their Red Lion Street workshops. This wonderfully stylish and fine quality tea pot is in superb condition. This wonderful teapot is in alargepear shapeddesign with a scroll handle and an impressive spout, raised on four elegant feet with gorgeous engraved decoration. It has a stunning ornate spire finial and is engraved with gorgeous detailed decoration - STUNNING.

It is NOT engravedto the cartouches. The teapot measures about 6 1/8\" in diameter, 9 3/4\" from spout to handle and stands8 1/4\" tall. It is very substantial - it weighs713.3 grams -virtually 23troy oz. Its capacity isa full21/4imperial pints!!!

The teapot is in superb condition with less than the usual light surface scratching and NO splits or repairs- with only one dent and a few dings - SUPERB. The handle is firm as is the finial. The lid has little play and NO spring.It is hallmarked to the base with DH over CH, lion passant (sterling silver assay mark), leopard head,g, Victoria duty markshowing that it was hallmarked in London in 1862. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. A really lovely, stunningand very rare VICTORIAN teapot from illustrious silversmiths in superb condition after over 150 years as you can see from the photographs - at a VERY low start and - you won\'t see a more impressive Victorian teapot this year!!!!
