IRON GOTHIC STYLE VERGE AND FOLIOT WEIGHT DRIVEN LANTERN WALL CLOCK #2:
$474.75

A weight driven iron gothic style wall clock with foliot controlled verge escapement. A very simple and quite crudely made mechanism of unknown age but most likely a 19th c or possibly later copy of a later 14th or earlier15th century wall clock, some of which may be seen in museums. Complete with original foliot weights and drive weight.

The clock is in good working order. The iron mechanism has old black paint and it is somewhat rusty as might be expected but seems to have a nice aged look which is what you would want in a clock like this I imagine. The clock is rather erratic in its time keeping but this is due to the primitive nature of the escapement and foliot. It has a very short duration of around 12 to 18 hours or so and because of this I have only occasionally bothered to wind it for amusement. Really more for show than for timekeeping. Dimensions
