According to Church tradition, the original icon was painted in the 10thcentury. There is a copy oi\" the icon made at the Dochiariu Monastery onMount Athos in 1664. It is impossible to tell when this type of icon appeared in Russia, but it was only in the second half of the 19th century that it became widespread here, This particular copy is based on the Chernigov type of the Icon of the Mother of God. Copies of this miracle-working icon worked numerous cures. One of them occurred on November 14, 1887. when a certain widow.
