About

  • The elaborate Faberge Firebird Egg by Peter Carl Faberge, the House of Faberge.
  • The base of the egg contains a working music box, and plays the melody of Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite”, custom designed by Reuge of Switzerland.
  • The shell of the egg is solid sterling silver, enhanced with rich fired enamels in transparent tones of cobalt blue, revealing a guilloche pattern inspired by the technique mastered by Peter Carl Faberge himself.
  • Entwining the egg are graceful apple blossom designs of 24 karat gold over sterling silver, each centered with a fully faceted red ruby, 24 in all.
  • The golden clasp at the top of the egg is crowned with two cabochon rubies.
  • The firebird inside is created of solid sterling silver coated in 24 karat gold. Its feathers are highlighted with hand-applied inlaid enamels, and its crest is set with six radiant cabochon rubies.
  • The firebird sits up a perch of rich lapis lazuli bordered with gold vermeil.
  • The base of 24 karat gold over sterling silver is accented with deep blue lapis lazuli and eight cultured pearls.
  • The egg contains a glorious surprise, a magnificent firebird tail feather of solid 14 karat gold, fiery red enamel and nine brilliant-cut diamonds. The tail feather broach can be removed and worn as an exquisite accessory.
  • The Peter Carl Faberge Firebird Egg was strictly limited world-wide to 1,500, and available exclusively from The Franklin Mint.

Item Condition

  • The wooden keepsake box does have a small amount of wear as expected.
  • The egg itself has one small spot of damage to the Faberge Enamel as shown in the photos.
  • Some of the gold apple blossom design is tarnished.
  • The gold on some of the tailfeathers of the Firebird that holds the Broach are worn, allowing the silver to show.
  • See photos for condition of items. I can only post 12 images on this listing, and that is not enough to do this beautiful piece justice. Please feel free to ask questions.
    The Music box works perfectly.
