Signed in English lower left and titled in lower right in Hebrew and English: \"You have chosen us of all people.. Saul Raskin was born in Nogaysk, Russia. At the age of 15 he studied lithography in Odessa and later attended art academies in Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. After migrating to America in 1904 he became a multifaceted artist and produced etchings, paintings, water colors and even cartoons. Between 1921 and 1960 he visited Israel six times. At the time of his last visit, at 82, after an absence of thirteen years, he found Israel to be a new and exciting place. After his last trip he published \"Personal Surrealism\", the paintings of his dreams. He became a famed illustrator of Jewish subjects and was also a lecturer, writer and teacher.
