We are pleased to offer this rare George III sterling teapot stand.
From the Calcutta shop of David Hare.
The only example we have observed from this maker in 40
years of collecting.
Born 1777.
Arrived India 1801.
Listed at Larkin Lane, 1805
until 1819.
For the remainder of his life, he devoted himself to native education.
Founded Hindoo College in Calcutta, where his statue stands to this day.
Raised oval petal gadroon rim.
Atop well cast shield cap claw feet.
The George III sterling silver Indian teapot stand
is 6 1/2 X 5 3/4 inches and
weighs 8 standard ounces.
Hallmarked as shown.
This is the only mark listed for David Hare,
it is illustrated page 92 Wilkinson.
In fine condition.
Rich, sterling patina, retains original detail.
Mild surface wear as shown.
