VINTAGE ART-DECO \"JUST (ANDERSON)\"DESIGNED OPEN FISH MOUTH PEWTER ASH TRAY

Antique 1930\'sART DECO fish figurine by Just Andersen, Denmark. Abstract open mouth fishdesign, with a pewter grey finish. Marked “JUST in triangle 1399 Denmark”. Verysolid and heavy for its size (over 800 grams) Size: 5\" large x 3.00\"wide x 3.50\" high. Mouth opening is 2.5”. Overall, excellent condition (seepictures).

Bio: JUST (ANDERSON); JUST ANDERSEN1884-1943; DENMARK

Sculptor and Silversmith. Started his own workshop 1918. The workshopcontinued a couple of years after his death, run by his widow. Just Andersenworked mainly with Pewter, Bronze and with Discometal (an alloy consisting ofPewter, Lead and Antimon. Discometal was invented by Just Andersen. JustAndersen spent some time, in the mid 1920-ties and early 1930-ties working forthe Swedish Companies Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) and Guldsmedsaktiebolaget (GAB) in Stockholm. Just Andersen is probably the mostrecognized designer of Modern Pewter in Denmark.
