I really have no idea what I am trying to sell, but I will try to explain it as well as I can with the hope that some kind er knows more than I do on this object (feel free to share your knowledge with the rest of us).
What I have before you is a set of 4 different Japanese figures made from real cloth (the clothing),paper (shoes, hands) and string (thebeard). These seem to represent different types in the ancient Japanese society. There are 4 figures altogether. Each figure measures about 15cm = 6 inches and these are pasted a yellowish cloth which is pasted unto a thick piece of cardboard. The entire length is 29.5 cm = 11.5 inches.
There\'s no dating although on the other side of the cardboard it does say that this is made in "HONGKONG" (see scan). It looks old and that\'s why I date it pre-WW2 as I also found out with items from the turn of the 20th Century, though I could be wrong but I don\'t think it\'s later than 1950.
Condition:As you can see one of the figures is missing a head , some of the paper is torn as well. Comes as is, that\'s the way I found it.
These figures are really cute and it seems someone went through the trouble of doing their research in creating these wonderful depictions of these people. The cloth that was used is colorful, with designs and is very appropriate for each one of the figures. If you enlarge my scans you may be able to see the details of each one of these images.
