JAPANESE MEIJI 19th C fine BAMBOO STICK CANE hand/carved INSECTS FROG BUTTERFLY:
$599.00

This is a very fine and intricately carved bamboo walking stick or cane w/metal tip/bottom and a 4 section telescoping extension. I am not sure what this was intended for as the last section is very thin - possibly could hold a light weight Flag ? don\'t think it would have been a fishing pole as just too fragile. The 2nd section from tip will pull out completely but nothing broken- This is incidental as the main beauty is in the detailed carving of insects , flowers, leaves and frog. There is a butterfly, cicada, snail, dragonfly, possibly praying mantis or other beatle? - all very intricately hand-carved - took a long time for the artist to complete this. The cane from head to toe is 89.5cm or 35 1/4\". This will extend out to over 100\" or 2.5meters ++. There are a few splits in the bamboo just due to age and the dryness here in the states - this is common and really does not deter from the shear beauty/quality of this cane. Hard to put a price on a one-of-a-kind object but all offers considered
