Antique Japanese Satsuma mid/late 19thC
Rare Mid/Late 19thC Japanese Imperial Satsuma pottery vase measures 16 cm high x 8.5cm wide.Excellent quality,Chrysanthemum and bamboo design with intricate top boarder ofcloud shapes with geometric designs in hand painted raised jewel like enamels and gold.Lots of very fine detail,not one of the usual mass produced featureless wares for general retail.These pieces were made in small numbers for the Daimyo of Satsuma and presented as gifts,signed by the maker.Minimal signs of wear if any,decoration as good as you could find,tiny bottom rim chip to glaze,small top rim fault as pictured,no serious damage and no repair.
