Rare Japanese Meiji period sterling silver and mixed metals novelty inkwell, made in Japan circa 1890.
This is a superb novelty silver and mixed metals inkwell in the form of a fisherman\'s kreel / basket full of fish.The basket is of finely woven wirework silver and has a copper turtle climbing up the side.
The lid of the inkwell has a range of different fish as well as a crab and a lobster, finely chased, some of the fish with brass fins and tails.
The lid is hinged.
The inkwell is 2-5/8 inches / 66 mm in diametre and it stands 1-3/4 inches / 45 mm high.
The inkwell is in excellent condition with no dents, damage or repair.
I accept payment via Paypal as well as personal cheques in Pounds Sterling drawn on a UK bank. For international customers, by arrangement payment may also be done via bank wire transfer.
I will post worldwide and I aim to despatch items within 3 days from receipt of payment. Shipments within UK are via Royal Mail Special Delivery next day service.
