NEW INFO: we have gotten a hold of the person who this was acquired from. He is a direct descendent of Jedediah Morgan Grant. The badge was unknown to the family until it was found in a book that was in a collection of books that he inherited. It was obviously put inside of a book to preserve it. He gave it to the gentleman because he was someone who was involved in the preservation of historical artifacts and he is a picker in this area. I am in contact with the family and they are getting back to me with more information.
