\"Master of the Calculated Risk: James H. \'Jimmy\' Doolittle, A Pictorial Biography\" is a 108 page, 8.5\"x11\" softcover written by Carroll V. Glines and published in 2002 by Pictorial Histories (Missoula, MT). General Doolittle led the Tokyo Raiders in a 1942 surprise attack of the Japanese mainland that helped turn the tide of the conflict in the Pacific during the Second World War. This copy is generically inscribed by the author on the title page, but more significantly is signed by seven Tokyo Raiders and by Tung-Sheng Liu, considered an honorary Doolittle Raider for his role in saving several airmen when they crash-landed off China. The signature of one of the four raiders captured by the Japanese in China, Chase J. Nielson, is included. Only one Raider is alive today, Doolittle\'s co-pilot Dick Cole (age 102), who autographed this book. The others who signed: Jack Sims, David Jones, David Thatcher, William (Bob) Bower, and one more I can\'t make out. Actually Thatcher, Bower and Jones all signed twice - maybe as multiple books were passed around at a reunion there was some confusion.The book is in very good condition. The cover shows light rubbing, a tiny crease near the back bottom corner. There are no interior marks besides the signatures mentioned above. The binding is tight.
