The Thomas Stevens Firm in Coventry England began silk ribbon book mark production (\"Stevensgraphs\") in 1860 & in America the famous & historicJohn Best & Company of Paterson, N.J. was one of only 5 pioneering U.S. companies to produce silk bookmark ribbons similar to the patented Stevensgraphs. Certainly John Best & Co. may have been one of the first to produce historic & highly sought after Presidential campaign ribbons for candidates like Abraham Lincoln & Stephen Douglas.This rare beauty is by far the BEST & most beautiful example like it that I have ever seen & I invite you to search like I did & find another of this caliber! I found one other similar example but it did not have the magnificent American Bald Spread Eagle with Flag or the dates 1492-1892.....& I have this one priced lower than that. JUST MAGNIFICENT - SURE TO BE A PRIZED ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION!!!Company name embroidered on reverse.One tiny little minor discoloration above eagle wing upper right - really not worth even mentioning.
