Beautiful Bronze Bell cast by Artist John McCombie in 1998 and called Horses & Hounds. This is a larger bell as it measures about 7\" high, the bottom of the bell measures about 9 1/4\" across, and the bellis very heavy, weighing 16 1/2 lbs. This weight is without the clapper or the mounting plate attached. An incredibly detailed fox hunting scene surrounds the bell -riders on horse back, tracking withtheir dogs, and chasing the fox. Thesmall fox, is hiding in the scenery, and is heading in the opposite direction. Absolutely Beautiful!The clapper, in the shape of a fox tail measures a foot long and weighs over 3 lbs by itself (about 3 lbs 5 oz). And, the mounting plate,in the shape of atree limb with leaves weighs just over 3 lbs. The bell is signed inside with jm 98 # IX with a small line above and below the IX. I assume thismight mean castnumber 9, but I do not know how many of this bell were cast. The mounting plate is also marked with jm 98. I would like to thank the members of the American Bell Association who helped me in identifying this bell and the artist. A truly rare and unique find. His work is really breathtaking.
