***VERY IMPORTANT:Impressionismisthe style of painting that I do. I use loose brushwork and heavy layers ofbright paint (also know as Impasto) to create the image before me. It is averydifficultstyle to master and it has taken me many many years toperfect my own take on the style. The paintings may appear fast, under-worked,or too fuzzyto the untrained eye, but to those who understandImpressionismandwhat it takes to paint this way - will recognize the jewels that I\'m offeringhere.

Artist Jose Trujillo: amodern Monet

We found an incredibleyoung artist on , of all places. Jose Trujillo is an impressionist painterof rare talent, a prolific painter whose landscapes, seascapes and still lifesare a dreamy, fantasy of colors. His brushwork is impeccable and we think he isto be collected now before his prices skyrocket and galleries, collectors andmuseums take notice, which they are sure to do. Trujillo has been called amodern Monet. His exquisite, smaller studies are created en plein aire, largerones in his studio so they can be carefully reworked as needed. Born inGuadalajara, Mexico in 1982, his first inspirations were the elaboratearchitectural designs of Spanish Baroque cathedrals he saw as a young boy. Atthe age of nine, the Trujillo family immigrated to the United States and landedin Tucson. Jose sketched casually as a young man without any formal training. When a large print of Monet’s Water Lilies at Giverny ignited his passion toseriously paint, Trujillo began actively studying art. His days were spent observingnature and visiting museums. Today he works full time from his Tucson studio. The result is an extensive body of work from a talented original artist ofquality whose vibrant colors and bold brush strokes are magical gems.

His paintings are a newform of Impressionism; a breed between abstraction and realism which seeks togo deeper into the experience of painting; where the artist–rather than merelyfocusing on the aesthetics to represent the landscape–tries to capture andconvey the feeling he receives from it.

This approach results ina more profound experience where the landscape is captured in its coreessence–with all senses and thru a multitude of emotions, and portrayed on thecanvas thru means of vibrant colors expressed in a spontaneous, dramatic, andexciting manner. This is what makes a Jose Trujillo original a truly uniquework of art.

Most Trujillo paintingssay so much with little apparent effort. Others are carefully constructed withflowing lines and structure. Some are so subtle they appear to be unfinished. ATrujillo painting can range from $195 to $10,000. An 8×10 framed painting isusually $195; a 5 by 7 foot piece $10,000. But if you go to you can findthem priced under $50.

Read what one of my mostvalued Trujillo art collectors has to say about her experience of owning myartwork:

Why I Collect JOSETRUJILLO

\"I feel sometimesthat I’m in a race, a crazy race to gather up as many of Tucson impressionistJose Trujillo’s prized gems of art as I can manage before I die. Beforethe rest of the world wakes up and realizes how gifted he is. Before theprices for his work soar far above my lower middle-class reach.

My favorite oils tocollect are Jose’s still lifes—flowers fluttering at times as mere suggestionsin light and shadow, explosions of color and movement, all stems and blossomsand leaves, bursting well beyond their simple gilded frames. Hispaintings are beautiful: moody or serene (“Early Impressions”), conveyingtexture, emotion (“Shady Shadows”). Since I began collecting over thepast months I’ve seen his work evolve, and grow, and become even moreenchanting and resplendent with time as he’s gradually finding his youngartist’s voice. In my view, he is already a master at plein air expressionistlandscapes conveyed in natural settings, of wistful or furious cloudformations, of brilliant kaleidoscopic sunsets. I am bewitched by hisvariety of purple passion pathways (I own several entitled “The Path”), hisneon hillsides (“Hillside Hues,” “Brilliant Afternoon”) and his transcendentuse of light on what looks like my mutabulis rose outside my front porch(“Flaming Roses,” “Garden Roses”). How many shimmering “White Roses in aVase” (or, for that matter, “Pink Roses,” “Pink Roses I” and “Pink Roses II”)should one woman collect, I wonder? I don’t quite know, but surely nextspring, or next winter, or the year after that, there might be even moregorgeous white (or pink, or whatever) roses against a mutable backdrop I muststrive to possess. And judging by my impressive increasing competition atsale on , I am not alone in this mounting race.

Some weeks, I feel, Josemay be struggling for a different angle, or thinking about simpler forms or anew splash of color in eucalyptus trees seen just so from a distance, as Imight be challenged by yet another potential Trujillo landscape acquisition ashis style mutates. He could be transitioning into a new period, like theriverbank scene so peaceful and Seine-like in “Early Reflections.” He maytry something completely new with his brushes, perhaps using less emphasis overthere—just a smear of paint—or a heavier hand, or more detail here in his tinyabstract petals, or an entirely fresh color palette to explore (as in thelavender blues in “Desert Meadow,” or in “Happiness,” a riot of imagination ina huge vase, or the insane application of lemon yellows and purples in abrilliant field bursting with radiance that I recently acquired. (You getthe picture.) But then what follows suddenly is a naif wave of magicalforest whimsy, like dancing tree trunks reminiscent of Van Gogh or Klimt(“Blessed Morning”), and bursts of pigment so magnificent and opposing you wantto cry (as in one of my absolute favorites which I gave my son Daniel at Christmas, the large “Oath to My Mother”). Jose makes it look simple but I assureyou it is not. I can’t duplicate him or his sometimes pointillistic style(“Whispers of Light”). Believe me, I’ve tried. As a novice oilpastel painter myself, I’ve longed in my daydreams to fly out to Arizona towatch Jose create in oils as he communes with nature, or fly him here to Texasfor a May gardening workshop on imagination to talk about and demonstrate hiswork. He is that good, and that inspiring. In short, I yearn tolearn at the side of this young artist. I want to be his forever friend.

Reflecting on his vastofferings at sale, I marvel at what is going on inside Jose’s passionatehead as he paints canvas after canvas, week after week, simple washes or complexwoodlands, feverishly, it seems, in such prolific form. Withoutinterviewing Jose on the subject, it appears that he has produced in recentyears nearly 3,000 original pieces in varying dimensions, each one, I’m sure, unique and reflective of his vision. But really, there is no mystery tohis exquisite madness. His careful (but most times apparently carefreeand rapid) brushwork lifts what he observes in his natural settings, in hisartist’s glowing and abundant heart and, beyond that, in his mind’s perceptiveeye, and deposits it on canvas before him in such haste, such as in a vividpink and orange marshland reflection (“Abstract Sunset”), or along a stand ofswaying magenta tree tops, or upon a rising, flickering silvery moon (“MoonliteInspiration”), as though he might forget in an instant what he was about tosay. Jose as a painter on canvas is much like a poet searching for thatprecise, but dazzling, description on paper before it evaporates. Afterall, such is the essence of a true impressionist artist: capturing thatfleeting, shining moment as it lies before you, as in Monet’s masterpieces, forall eternity.

For anyone seriouslycontemplating a delightful and ultimately satisfying experience in collectingoriginal art I say, without hesitation, no matter where you may live, considerTucson impressionist Jose Trujillo as your source. He is like the happiest ofaddictions. Right now, Jose’s oils are still wildly affordable to theaverage consumer, to one who appreciates having a little (or a lot of) beautyto behold. As addictions go, the lingering aftereffects for the user ofhis blossoming talents are so much more alluring, more pleasurable, more filledwith imagination and wonder, and more enduring to experience than anythingelse. In the end, you’ll have a beautiful painting before you to admireindefinitely on your wall. I’ve taken some of mine to the office todisplay, and you wouldn’t believe the attention his paintings generate. Ifeel…and I don’t know exactly why…somehow comforted being surrounded by hishandcrafted work. Most importantly, as a gift to share now or as atreasure to hold close forever, an addiction to beautiful little gems of art byany artist, any at all, or by those so lovingly created by Jose Trujillo, is asource of lasting smiles and well-being and genuine, heartfelt appreciation allaround. And not, fortunately, a source of guilt. And that’s a goodthing.\"
