For offerding/Sale: 1 Lovely Art Nouveau Brass Rack with Expandable Armscreated by the H.L. Judd Company about 100 years ago.

Judd Manufacturing Company’sroots date back to 1833 when the company produced harnesses for horses and carriagesin New Britain, Connecticut.

In the early 1910s, Hubert Judd founded the H.L. Judd Company in Brooklyn, NY. He created a decorative art metal line of fine-quality sand castings in iron, brass and bronze. Among these items werebookends and book racks, whichwere produced between 1910 and the late 1930\'s.

Judd identified their bookends with a 9000 series stock number. The prefix “0” was used in front of the 9000 series number on iron castings only when the same design was cast in both bronze and iron. This lovely book rack has the number 9776 clearly impressed upon it on each end.

A wise, old owl symbolic of wisdom is fashioned on each end of the rack. The owls are perched on Pine branches with needles and cones. This is a sturdy rack, capable of holding far more books than I put in the photo. The rack easily telescopes out to 15\" open; 8 1/2\" closed.

Some also use these decorative racks to hold letters, CD\'s, records and more. They are well-built like so many things from that era. I have another Judd rack for sale if you have an interest and will adjust shipping accordingly if you purchase both.
