KAMIL KUBIK ORIGINAL PASTEL - NEW YORK CITY RITZ CARLTON HOTEL Manhatten:
$3000.00

Before he died, Kamil had been commissioned BY THE RITZ CARLTON HOTEL chain to create a pastel of this magnificent, famous, well known hotel. It may be one of my favorites of all that Kamil created during his long, interesting career. It is spectacular, and Kamil definitely captured the drama and excitement of this fabulous place in this spectacular city. I do love this pastel but am selling it to help my kids with college loans. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have and I have written some of my background and history with Kamil below so you can feel comfortable buying from me. What an amazing gift this would make for someone who has a connection to this remarkable location.
Kamil and I were great, close friends and I have a huge amount of his art to sell. If you have no interest in this particular hotel, but enjoy the work of this artist, let me know. Perhaps I have something else that may interest you and am always happy to talk about what I have and what you might be interested in looking at / buying.
BACKGROUND
I met Kamil while I was working for the State of New Jersey. We had been searching for an accomplished, talented artist who might be interested in accepting a project to memorialize through art, some of our State\'s most recognizable....interesting locations. The collection would ultimately hang inside the State Capitol Building where it would remain for years to come. It turned out that my boss had a friend who owned a collection of paintings by a well known, international, Czech Impressionist, KAMIL KUBIK. A lunch was arranged in order for us to meet and the rest is history. I immediately adored this man, this artist. I loved his temperament, spirit and above all else, his work. My mother was Czech and so Kamil and I shared an immediate connection that turned into a lifelong friendship. He gladly accepted our project and once it ended (which took almost 10 years since we commissioned only one painting per year) Kamil, his wife Joanna and I continued to maintain a close, strong friendship. We visited often and shared holdays. Like many artists, Kamil\'s talent was in his craft. He was an extremely accomplished artist but did not enjoy the business side of his efforts so I began helping him market his work. As years passed, he began to give me some of his more popular prints and toward the end of his life, a few of his originals as well. This hotel is one of a collection of many such subjects he did within the U.S. and abroad. I love almost everything Kamil created and therefore, deciding what to part with has been extremely difficult. Each one has a story and each one reminds me of Kamil, a wonderful artist and my dear friend. He was an amazing person....certainly unique, gifted and talented.....interesting, kind and so generous. He loved the City and painted there whenever he had the opportunity. . He spoke 5 languages and worked with many well connected people and organizations. Toward the end of his life, it seemed EVERYONE wanted Kamil Kubik to paint something for them. He did projects for the NY YANKEES, immortalized the ice rink for DONALD TRUMP, created for the CEO of the NY Stock Exchange and other WALL STREET ORGANIZATIONS. He painted THE PLAZA HOTEL and he created a world wide series of paintings of hotels for THE RITZ CARLTON HOTEL organization. Everyone loved Kamil\'s easy, impressionistic style. He could create a complete piece of art in an afternoon but would continue to work on it FOREVER. He never felt like his work was finished. He routinely started his day with a swim at the local Y, would practice his YOGA and then begin working in his studio or at the sight of his current commission. Sadly, on one particular Fall morning, he was working in his studio at home where he suffered a serious stroke that left him paralyzed and ultimately in need of 24 hour care. It was a devastating turn for this man who had previously lived such a strong, active and ultra-healthy life.
After his stroke, he continued selling most of what he had previously created since he was no longer able to manage anything related to his ability to create his masterpieces. He eventually developed pneumonia and in 2003, he quietly passed away, leaving behind his wife and devastated friends. I had continued to help him during those final, horrifying years and was blessed to be the person who was sitting with him on the evening he died. I still miss him terribly but am surrounded by this beautiful art which keeps him and his spirit present. The WORLD CUP SOCCER hangs in my kitchen and is a favorite of both of my sons. My husband is a Veteran and loves THE BATTLESHIP NEW JERSEY which was part of the NJ series I had commissioned him for so long ago. We all love THE NY YANKEES, CAPE MAY, THE BARNEGAT LIGHTHOUSE, the NJ STATE HOUSE and more. I have the original painting of THE MORRISTOWN GREEN which is exceptional and had graced the cover of a publication sent statewide by NJ Department of Travel and Tourism. It is spectacular. Golf? Tennis? Kamil was the Official Artist for several US Open Golf and Tennis Tournaments. He painted the New York City Marathon, and of course the Soccer and Baseball works he completed. He loved painting New York City, Central Park, Little Italy, The St. Patrick\'s Day Parade, the Greek Parade, his Wall Street Series and so many more. Oh....there are the majestic WASHINGTON DC subjects that Kamil painted because of his close friendship with First Lady BARBARA BUSH and PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH. THE INAUGURATION(of President Bush) may be Kamil\'s finest work along with the US CAPITOL, The US Supreme Court, The Cherry Blossoms and so many more. He created random subjects.....Harvard Business School, Boston street scenes, and on and on.
I know this is long....but I truly want everyone to know who Kamil was, what he did and how much I loved being a part of his life. Please ask any questions you may have, I am happy to try to help if possible. If you have a particular subject you are interested in let me know. I may have something you would enjoy. I promise you will love anything you buy of Kamil Kubik\'s work and for sure, he would love that you wanted something he created. I\'m sure he is still painting somewhere!!! :)
