Going through the many, many boxes that I inherited, that were stored in an air conditioned storage down here in Florida, I found this beautiful, unique, and very-very rare solid brass knife/fork in its original solid brass sheath table/desk display. I know this solid brass display was acquired by a family member during WWII in the 1940\'s and it was used at the time~so my guess is as good as yours on the actual age of this fantastic display. This complete set has a sheath made of solid brass with attached legs and two spring clasp each attached with two solid brass screws. The sheath is highly decorated with a lot of floral and leaf carvings on the top, and it measures 11\" long with the spring clasps. The only markings I found was the number \"18\" stamped on both ends of the sheath and the number \"18\" stamped on the legs~I have no clue what the \"18\" means.The complete set-the brass is tarnished and it has metal blemished but no pieces have broken off, no gouges, and hardly any scratches but that is solid brass for you-very, very durable. Both the knife and the fork are attached in the sheath making the complete set is 17\" long and with the leg stands it is 2 1/4\" high. VERY COOL!!! The knife and the fork alsolock in until the spring clasp is pushed down and then the knife or fork can be pulled out, so they do lock in place. The knife is very sharp and measures 12\" long with the handle and the guard being highly decorated with a lot of carvings. The blade of this beautiful knife is 7 3/4\" long and looks to be made out of ahi-quality, thick and shiny chrome metal. The two tine fork measures 11 1/4\" with handle and the guardare very highly decorated with a beautiful etched design. The fork blade measures 7 1/8\" long. Boththe knife and forkhave a 3\" X 1 3/8\" solid brass guard. VERY, VERY COOL!!! It\'s a matter of taste, but if I were to keep this beautiful, unique, one of a kind, solid brass knife/fork/sheath set, I would have a professional buff and polish it because I love old solid brass that is buffed and polished because it looks like pure gold. But some people prefer the tarnished look and that\'s okay. All around, this set is in very good to excellent antique/vintage condition. You will be the talk of the town when people come into your home and seethis beautiful, very rare, solid brass knife/fork/sheath being displayed on a shelf unit, an office desk, coffee table, etc., etc. It is really an amazing solid brass set.
So, here\'s a chance to own this very rare, very hard to find, collectible at a very low, affordable investment.
