Offered is a scarce, if not rare military commission signed by King George II, promoting Mynders Roseboon to the rank of \"...Lieutenant of Our Independent Company of Foot doing Duty in Our Province of New York, in America, commanded by Our Trusty and Welbeloved Captain Hubert Marshall....\" Dated November 30, 1745. This was the same year Fortress Louisbourg was taken, which was probably the single greatest feat of the Americans during King George\'s War, the third of the four French & Indian Wars. The document measures 13 1/2 x 10, printed vellum, blank on verso but for docket, and easy to read. Condition varies with the docketing panel on the verso browned and stained, but the document\'s face, while spotted here and there, is fairly clean. SEE SCANS, but please note the dark spots seen in one or two of the scans are not present on the document - the shady areas are due largely to the crinkling of the vellum. A quick look through Google shows there are a few papers relating to Roseboom (the Commission spells it \"Roseboon\" but the name apparently ends with an \"m\") among the many papers of Sir William Johnson, baronet, and in effect Superintendent of Indian Affairs. Most of his papers have been published. Roseboom, along with Marshall, is occasionally mentioned between 1748 and 1754. In any case, a most uncommon item - in over fifty years have seen only about four royally signed military commissions relating to America. At any rate, payment via Paypal, though other forms of payment are usually accepted.
