We are thrilled to offer a great find acquired as part of an estate of well-traveled Africa enthusiasts.
We believe this piece is attributed to the Bamileke people of Cameroon. The mask has relatively new hardware with which to hang, though the piece has a patina and wear consistent with age--likely early 20th century.
Ornate and vibrantly colorful beads. As shown in the photos, there is some slight separation of beads here and there (easy to stabilize with some adhesive, especially around the lips) but otherwise sturdy with no damage or deterioration to the wood.
This is an imposing piece, measuring 21 inches tall, about 11 inches wide and 6 inches deep.
