This is an absolutely stunning piece, it is an English sterling silver shell bowl that is lavishly gilded with gold and it is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1971 with the maker\'s mark of the well known J B Chatterley. It is in excellent condition and it was very hard to photograph due to the brightness of the gilding, any black marks in the pics are just reflections and the bowl is clean and bright. There are no dents, splits or repairs and no signs of it ever having been used. There is some wear to the gilding on the high points of the ribs from polishing, but not at all bad as you can see in the pics below. The bowl measures 5 1/4\" (13.4cm) long and it is 1 3/4\" (4.4cm) tall. It is a good solid piece and it weighs in at a hefty 4 1/8ozs (116.1g). There are no monograms or inscriptions nor have there ever been any.If you need any further pictures or information please e.mail me before offerding.
