THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO PURCHASE THIS FINE PIECE OF HISTORY WITHOUT GOING THROUGH FAIRFIELD sale HOUSE AND PAYING A BUYERS FEE !!!!!!For your consideration is an AMAZING ORIGINAL Lincoln photograph by The famous GEORGE B. AYRES It is copyright dated 1897. PLEASE don\'t let the glare in my 1st photo distract you. It is in FANTASTIC condition for being 130 years old. The VERY SMALL chips to the edges cannot be seen in the frame and I point out 2 very light water stains than can hardly be seen in the frame. Overall condition is excellent in my opinion. If you google theses words exactly, \" ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS OF LINCOLN PUBLISHED BY GEORGE B. AYRES, ARTIST, PHILADELPHIA \". You will see a site that has 4 pages by Mr. Ayres describing EXACTLY MY PHOTO ON PAGE 3 !!!! He tells how he has the original negative and all work is copyright. He states That the original negative had minor damage and that all photos have been slightly artist brush touched and says thats why his photos will never be cheap. He states that all photos are PLATINUM print and are from enlarging the original negative and that my size, which is 20 1/2 x 27 cost $15.00 and is the BEST OF THE BEST BEING ALMOST LIFE SIZE!!!! He also states that every photo will be accompanied by a form about the HISTORY OF THE NEGATIVES which I have also and is well pictured. On this form, he states how he bought Alexander Hesler\'s studio and that\'s how he acquired the negatives. He then moved to Buffalo and 5 weeks later, his old Chicago studio burned in the great Chicago fire !! He then moved to Philadelphia where my photo was printed. PLEASE CHECK ALL PHOTOS for condition such as the paper about the negatives has some damage and the frame has a small chip. FREE SHIPPING TO continental US. PLEASE MESSAGE ME for MORE PICTURES OR QUESTIONS BEFORE offerDING. I contacted Christie\'s sale House and They told me that the last one EXACTLY like mine came up for sale in 1998. It sold for about $3,500.00 . THAT WAS almost 20 YEARS AGO! My Mom had an antique shop for 30 years and this was never for sale, it hung in the den all my life and I\'m 59 years old. I will be calling Christies again monday in hopes to contact the fine arts and photography dept. again to find out if the form about THE HISTORY OF THE NEGATIVES was included in that sale. I also want to find out the condition of the one that sold as mine is near mint. I just contacted Christies and they said the last one that sold in 1998 DID NOT HAVE THE HISTORY OF THE NEGATIVES THAT ORIGINALLY CAME WITH IT!the famous portrait of Lincoln photographed from life by Chicago photographer Alexander Hesler in Springfield, Illinois taken June 1860. This was one of three photographs taken of him during a sitting by photographer Hesler who captured the remarkable image of Lincoln shortly after his nomination for President. Lincoln said of his portrait at that time, “That looks better and expresses me better than any I have ever seen; if it pleases the people I am satisfied.” Lincoln’s law partner William Herndon quipped, it was so “…essentially Lincolnian; no other artist has ever caught it.” Indeed, it certainly pleased the people so much; that Philadelphia photographer George B. Ayres purchased the original negative from Hesler and copyrighted this image in 1894 and began to sell prints made from the original negative. These photographic prints by Ayres developed from the original negative of Lincoln are considered among the finest photographs of Lincoln that exist. The original Hesler negative to this famous image survives in the Smithsonian Institution. Lincoln, best known for overthrowing slavery through the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment, was the 16th president and first of the Republican Party. Lincoln eventually became one of the most photographed and prominent presidents in our history. However, no image can compete with his likeness
