VINTAGE ABSTRACT EXPRESSIONIST ACTION OIL PAINTING Mid Century Modern Signed
Highly energetic splatter and drip action painting with mixed inks and glossy enamels. Swirling golden green and cobalt blue move in an elliptical spasmodic composition over a white oil ground. Extremely rich pigment quality.
Painting on stretched canvas. Canvas is nailed to stretcher. Signed/initialed on back. Simple wood modernist frame with gilded edge.Very good condition. Craquelure areas, as to be expected by this type of painting. Pigment appears stable. Cobalt blue ink wash appears water soluble from blur. Very delicate piece. Canvas has been added to top edge beneath frame, likely done by artist during stretching process. A few rub marks to surface at lower left and right corners (not distracting from work). Large scale: Measures 36.5\" x 24.5\" in thin frame.
