If you purchase it and give to a younger child I cannot, and will not, be held responsible. This new law makes it illegal to sell handmade toys, clothes, and other goods intended for children younger than 12 if the materials have not been tested for lead and other toxins. This testing is extremely expensive and must be done on EACH AND EVERY material usedin the item being produced. This piece is built from common, everyday, American grown hardwoods, glued together with standard yellow woodworking glue, screwed together with standard steel screws, and the sprayed on finish, if applied, is the same as the ones used on most of your wood furniture. Obviously nothing to harm a child but I cannot afford the tests so listing is for ADULT PURCHASE AND USEONLY.

To start with I\'m not Amish, I don\'t import from China, and I don\'t own a huge company. I\'m a simple Grandfather with 3 grand daughters 5-7 years old, and I have a one man wood working shop that I play in 4-5 hours every day as a form of theraphy for my disability. I\'ve gottentired of seeing JUNK on here that won\'t last the week so I\'m trying to establish my own limited line of quality furniture. I only build a few of each piece at a time so don\'t delay your offers thinking I have a \"warehouse\" full of each piece. The one you see listed may well be the only one I ever build, or at least it won\'t be duplicated for a month or more. I can only produce a few pieces each month so my supplies are definitely limited.

This bed is built of SOLID Northern Red Oak,bottom is 1/4\"plywood,there is a 2\" x 1/4\" thick heartattached tothehead board.The headboard and footboardare assembled with counter sunk screws covered with flush sanded Oak plugs, while the side rails are attached with washer head antique brass screws. New for this year I have increased the width and length of this bed, it is quite likely the largest American Girl type bed available on . over all it measures 13 1/8\" wide, 24 1/4\" long, and 7 3/4\" high, the \"mattress\" area is11 5/16\" x 22 1/2\"TIGHT, from the floor to the TOP of theside rail measures4 1/2\", the corner posts are 1 1/8\"+ squarewhile all other parts are a full 5/8\" thich,and the side rail is 2 1/4\" high.This bed has been finished in the natural beauty of Northern Red Oak and has 2 spray applied coats of industrial grade lacquer, hand sanded between coats. This is my first year offering single beds and I am only making 15!!!!!!!! When they are gone THAT\'S IT for the year, I am having major shoulder surgery the end of August and there is NO WAY I\'ll be able to work in a few last minute beds to meet demand. So basically I\'m saying you shouldn\'t put off your Christmas shopping as I don\'t expect these to last long.
