Serpent design miniature bowl measures 2\" tall, 21/2\" wide, 1 1/4\" at the opening. Leonidas Tapia(1915-1977) was aNative Americanpotter fromOhkay Owingeh, New Mexico,United States. She was the wife of Jose Blas Tapia and mother ofMary Trujillo(born 1937) andTom Tapia(b. 1946). Leonidas made traditional San Juan polychrome redware bowls, jars andwedding vasesas well asthe popular black on black items.Some of the designs she used on her pottery include the water serpent,kivasteps and clouds. Leonidas participated in theSanta Fe Indian Marketfrom 1970-1976.
