About
This pair of William Matthew Hale 19th century oil paintings were originally purchased from a major sale house. Please note that Hale was born in 1837, but has been incorrectly cited as being born in 1849, on some sale websites. I am pleased to have the opportunity to offer this original pair of 19th century oil paintings by the famous listed British artist- William Matthew Hale. Hale is an artist whose works can be found in many important collections, including the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery; Royal West of England Academy and Victoria Art Gallery.
These two original oil paintings by Hale depicts a boat leaving in the morning on a choppy sea, with overcast skies and the same boat returning under pleasant skies and calmer water. In the 19th century fishing was notoriously dangerous with high fatality rates and the occupation remains today as one of the most dangerous. However, 19th century fisherman were more at risk to succumbing to Mother Nature because they didn\'t have radar, satellites and many other forms of technology that today\'s fishermen have to predict weather conditions. This pair of paintings are depictions a happy story... one that many other fisherman never lived to tell! William Matthew Hale is an artist who is mentioned in many reference books and his work has been sold by more than 20 major sale houses, in several different countries. If you are unfamiliar with William Matthew Hale, I would like to share his biography cornwallartists.org written by with you below. BIOGRAPHY:William Matthew Hale (1849-1929)
