First Issue, Large Format. 1st 1910. Original brown cloth spine, grey pictorial paper boards with large colour pictorial paste-on to front. 8 delightful colour plates plus numerous illustrations in black & white. Pictorial endpapers. 11” x 9”, 96 pages. All plates present. One colour plate creased at edge with a few edge-tears. Neat name in ink in belongs to box. Corners a little rubbed/bumped, covers very bright. Inside, front hinge cracking, end-paper has a corner crease, foxing throughout, as normal with this type of paper, some grubby marks. One of the rarest of all the Louis Wain titles, I can only see two other copies for sale worldwide and this is by far the best and brightest of the three. Even with the foxing and the creases and tears to the edges of one plate, still an nice copy of an extremely scarce book, the brightest covers that we have seen.
