Description

Measures Cross 45 inches x 21 inches (115cmx53cm) Corpus measures 22inches x 16 inches x 5inches) (Provenance and info to buyer) this was probably carved in Northern Spain or Southern France around 1600-1700. Catalan or Provençal school. A highly intended item of its time, the corpus is finely carved then given a layer of gesso and then a primer and finally the polychrome painted finish. There is inactive worm holes and wear and patina consistent with age. A work of a master carver there is fine detail to the face and body of the corpus. This is very heavy as it is very large and that\'s the reason the shipping is expensive sorry.
