Laurel Burch (1945 - 2007) is a well-respected artist known for her unique style and brilliant colors. In spite of suffering her entire life with a rare and painful bone disease, she always had a positive attitude and was a self-taught artist, originally making and selling jewelry on the streets of San Francisco. She went on to work on cast metals and wood, and to include spin off products on paper, porcelain and fabric.

Her collection of cat plates are truly unique with vibrant colors and unique patterns. The gold trim around the edge and outlining various elements of the design makes the colors \"pop\".
