This sterling silver vinaigrette is in exquisite condition. In fact it is in the best condition we have ever seen for such an item. The engravings and decorations are crisp and deep with very little wear.
The vinaigrette is shaped in the form of a purse. The surface is embellished with pin struck panels showing a leaf design with acorns. the hinged, pierced, decorated grill is in the middle of the box and would have contained the original sponge. There is a loop on one end of the vinaigrette for hanging on a chain.The interior of the vinaigrette is gold-washed.
There are clear hallmarks on the inner lid and on the base under the grill.
