$19.99

Hello, This is NOT your every average day find. This is a VERY RARE Roller Skate Key similar to another but NOT the same. This Skate Key was made by Levant M. Richardson of Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Richardson had obtained a Patent on December 9th.,1884 for the invention of using steel ball bearings in skate wheels to reduce friction which allowed skaters to increase speed with minimum effort. The invention of pin ball-bearing wheels allowed skates to roll easier and made skating shoes weigh less. In 1898, Levant Richardson started the Richardson Ball Bearing and Skate Company, which provided skates to most professional skate racers of the time. Of course the actual age of this item is unknown to me so I will have to say this key could be just after the turn of the century. The Key is 2 3/4\" Long and nearly 1 7/8\" Wide. The Hexagon is 3/8\" and the Barrel Square I.D. is 1/4\". Thank you for looking!
