Lewis Carroll’s Original Draft of Atalanta in Camden Town.

Written by Carroll’s own hand and signed by the author. This poem appeared in the collection Phantasmagoria and other poems and was written as a parody on Swinburne’s Atalanta in Calydon.

This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire an extraordinary and rare unique part of English literary history.

Ink double sided on white stock, the work measures approximately 18cm x 23cm (7. x 9in)

Excellent condition apart from some creasing. It is an ORIGINAL WORK and not a lithograph or print of any kind.

Lewis Carroll was the pen name of Charles L. Dodgson, author of the children’s classics “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” and “Through the Looking-Glass. Born on January 27, 1832 in Daresbury, Cheshire, England, Charles Dodgson wrote and created games as a child. At age 20 he received a studentship at Christ Church and was appointed a lecturer in mathematics. Dodgson was shy but enjoyed creating stories for children.
